What materials do you use?
Our pieces are made using brass, silver-plated copper, PVD gold and silver plated stainless steel, and natural gemstones. Specific materials for each piece are listed in the individual listing description.
Will my jewelry tarnish?
Depends on the metal:
- Brass is a living metal — it will tarnish and develop patina over time. This is natural and can be polished away using lemon or lime juice.
- Silver-plated copper will also tarnish over time. In areas of frequent contact or wear, the silver coating may wear away and let the copper underneath show through.
- Gold and silver PVD-plated stainless steel is tarnish-resistant — this is the material often associated with the "waterproof jewelry" trend. That said, we don't recommend wearing any of our pieces in water.
With proper care, all of our pieces are made to last for years. We include a polishing cloth with every order, and additional cloths are available as an add-on.
Are the gemstones real?
Yes - we use natural gemstones, so slight variation in color and pattern from piece to piece is normal and part of what makes each item unique. Some stones are dyed; dyed stones can bleach or fade with extended sun or water exposure over time.
Where are your products made?
Every piece is handmade by the two of us - Brittney and Chelsea - in Southern California. We use materials sourced globally: some components come from ethical, handmade sources, and others from reputable suppliers and websites. As we grow, we're working toward using only fully traceable materials.
Is your jewelry hypoallergenic?
Our pieces are made with mixed metals, and we use PVD gold or silver plated stainless steel — which is hypoallergenic and skin-safe — on the components that touch your skin most, like earring hooks and necklace chains. Other elements of the piece (like brass or silver-plated copper details) may not be hypoallergenic. Please check the individual listing description for the full materials breakdown before purchasing.
How adjustable are your pieces?
We design our jewelry to be as adaptable as possible, so you can maximize comfort and styling options. Ear cuffs can be gently bent to fit your ear, necklaces adjust within a set range using our double-clasp design, and sizing details vary by piece. Please check each individual listing for specific adjustability information before ordering.
Can I shower, swim, or sleep in my jewelry?
We don't recommend it. Removing your pieces before water exposure or sleep will help them last longer.
What about sustainability?
We're a small business just starting out, so we're not where we ultimately want to be — but we're committed to doing better as we grow. Here's where we stand today:
- We choose quality materials built to last, so pieces don't end up discarded
- Our gemstones are mostly sourced from gem fairs and reputable sellers, though we can't yet claim full traceability
- All pendants we use are 100% handmade and ethically sourced globally
- Some of our materials are repurposed or thrifted from vintage hardware and jewelry
- Our metals (gold plate, silver plate, brass) come from reputable, long-lasting sources
- We use minimal plastic in shipping and follow a low-waste creation process
We love this earth, and as we grow, sustainability is something we plan to keep investing in.
